Art in the City returns to downtown Dayton from 1 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2023. Back for its eighth year, the free event highlights our community’s visual, performing and fine arts for all to enjoy. More than 300 artists will showcase their talents via hands-on demonstrations, live performances, classes, workshops and more at locations throughout downtown Dayton. Families, artists and art lovers of all ages are invited to enjoy the festivities as spectators or jump into classes and workshops to discover a new skill.
“We are so excited for Art in the City to return for its eighth year,” said Alaina Geres, Downtown Dayton Partnership Director of Economic Development. “This free, family-friendly event has grown to become a city-wide celebration of the arts that continues to grow and spread creativity through our community.”
Since 2015, Art in the City has been celebrating the vibrant arts community in downtown Dayton. With the help of more than a dozen local arts organizations, the event has remained free for all to enjoy while paying each of the artists who share their talents with the community. The event in the Downtown Hub of the Dayton Riverfront Plan is emblematic of the vibrancy the Plan strives to promote and inspire. Tapping into the uniqueness of Dayton’s artistic talent and sharing it with the regional community meets the Dayton Riverfront Plan’s goal of ensuring the riverfront reflects the “Heart of Dayton.”
In addition to pop-up performances around downtown, the 2023 event will feature a wide range of family-friendly activities to engage our community with the arts and cultural amenities we are fortunate to have in our region. This year’s activities will include a Juried Art Show, Party on the Patio with live entertainers, a Family Zone, Fine Arts Showcase, Arts Bazaar and community engagement projects from recipients of the Experiential Arts Grant.
Art in the City is a program of the Downtown Dayton Partnership and is part of the AES Ohio Summer in the City. Maps and more details about the Art in the City projects, performances and events are available at the Art in the City page of the Downtown Dayton Partnership website.
